IS THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX YOUR KIND OF THING? JOIN US !
The Solar Heat Web Challenge is organized by Absolicon Solar Collector and MG Sustainable Engineering, with a mission of developing bright ideas into concepts in addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The quest for development in new sources of energy has attracted significant investment in the past years. Solar thermal energy is the ideal energy source for a wide range of industrial applications. By providing heat, steam, and cooling to industrial processes with Absolicon technology, we can reduce the existing heating cost, prevent CO2 emissions, and ensure energy security to industries, making it possible a cost-effective transition from fossil fuels. To date, Absolicon has over 10 years of operational experience and an aperture area of more than 6000 m2 in 20 installations worldwide.
However, our journey does not end here. Join us in pushing the boundaries by presenting new ideas to address the 1 or more of the following 3 challenge areas. Click here for inspiration.
CHALLENGE 1: 100% SOLAR DRIVEN FACTORY
Half of the overall energy usage is heat. The industrial sector accounts for about 31% of the world’s total energy consumption, and Heat is used to make our everyday products, such as clothes, dairy products, food and beverage. Industries generally rely on internal energy production, most typically steam boiler systems for heat production. Absolicon solar thermal solutions ensure energy security for industries, reducing CO2 emissions and fossil fuel dependency.
In this challenge, we invite you to present innovative ideas for a 100% solar driven factory, including solar heat for industrial processes.
CHALLENGE 2: CUSTOMER DRIVEN FOCUS ON SOLAR HEAT
The road towards sustainability is often paved with challenges and obstacles. To achieve climate neutrality goals, it is important to recognise the equal importance of environmental and social goals and taking a holistic approach in integrating the climate neutrality mindset into the daily lives of the people.
In this challenge, we pose the question ‘how can industries power their processes with solar thermal energy in their quest towards sustainability with a customer driven focus?’
CHALLENGE 3: EFFICIENT HEAT STORAGE
Almost 40% of energy use is for heating and hot water. As a result, this sector is one of the largest energy consumers and thermal energy usage such as hot water, cooling and space heating accounts for a major share of demand for electricity during peak hours.
To minimize strain on the electricity grid, we challenge you to present innovative ideas on low cost, efficient heat storage to ensure continuous supply of thermal energy.
